It is then inserted into the bore and adjusted by rotating the knurled knob at the base, until light pressure is felt when then gauge is slightly moved in the bore. After being withdrawn the gauge is then removed and measured with the air of a micrometer.

This filter is very comparable to the stock filter. Fits the BMW G20 just like OEM. I would not say it is two times "heavier" as advertised on the box, but it is very comparable to stock. It's the same weight and similar construction. BMW has a very robust cabin filter. This will be my go to. I did purchase another aftermarket cabin filter that fit well, but was thin, flimsy and had a bad chemical odor. This one is fine and airflow is the same as OEM. I change them every year or so. I don't worry too much about longevity with cabin filters personally.
