Every one is a little different from the next as they are all hand carved. The age of this is a little unclear, but they are properly old and came out of a cleanout of a small former wood shop. The style of these is very similar to the wood work popular in the 1930's 1940's and the surface carving is the style that I see with a lot of the rehabilitation workshops for

These are fabulous! The weight to them is perfect for tearing off a towel and not tipping. And the color/style works perfectly with our decor. Even my husband who rarely comments on anything said "I really like these!" I have one in my kitchen with regular paper towels and my laundry room with the microfiber towels. LOVE!!
