The roots used to be crushed and used as food in northern Asia. Little maintenance is required. Love these jeans! They're my favorite pair. Very comfortable and breathable. I got a size 14 and they fit great, the adjustable waistband is great. I am 5'0 and weight 98lbs. My inseam is 25 inches, waist is 24 inches, and hips are 34 inches. Hope this helps
